New Batman-less Batman Game To Release Next Year

Gotham Knights, the first Batman video game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in five years, will not include Batman.

Set in a Gotham City where Batman is dead, Gotham Knights will instead allow players to control his proteges Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, facing off against well-known DC Comics villains such as Mr Freeze.

According to Patrick Redding, Creative Director, Warner Bros. Games Montréal, the game’s focus on the “Batman Family” will bring a “different story of the DC Super Heroes to the forefront”.

“We’re looking forward to fans playing and enjoying a lot of action as this new guard of strong DC Super Heroes in Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin, while solving an original mystery set against a living, breathing Gotham City,” he said.

Gotham Knights is set to release in 2021 and will be WB Interactive Entertainment’s first Batman game since 2016’s Batman: Arkham VR. Another game in the “Arkhamverse”, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, will launch in 2022.

Gotham Knights will feature solo and two-player online co-op, and be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 (including Pro), the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox Series X and Xbox One X, and PC.
