Back In The USA – McAfee
McAfee has dodged Belize police patrols for nearly a month following the killing of American Gregory Faull, his neighbor on the Caribbean island of Ambergris Caye, eventually slipping across the border into Guatemala. Following his release from detention there yesterday, he boarded an American Airlines flight to Miami, where he was escorted from the plane by airport security officers and escorted VIP style through non-public areas of the airport after he cleared customs. Legal observers say there seems little likelihood of the 67-year- old being extradited back to Belize. The US has an extradition treaty with Belize, but it applies only to suspected criminals and “right now, we don’t have enough information to change his status from person of interest to suspect,” said a Belize police spokesperson. Future plans? “I’m just going to hang in Miami for a while. I like Miami,” McAfee told Reuters before boarding his plane. “There is a great sushi place there and I really like sushi.” |
