Motorola Trot Out G5 And G5+ For Oz

First announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress, Motorola have now brought their Moto G5 and G5+ to the Australian market.

While it won’t have support for the company’s growing MotoMod ecosystem, the 5-inch G5 features a 1.4Ghz quad-core processor, 3GBs of RAM and a 2800mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the G5 Plus bumps those specs up to 2Ghz and 3000 mAh, respectively. It also adds another two points to screen size, bringing the G5 Plus’ display up to 5.2-inches.

Both phones run on Android Nougat and include functionality with Google’s own voice assistant.

Motorola is really investing in the power of the camera in the G5 this time around.

According to the company, “Moto G5 Plus gives you the most advanced 12MP camera in its class. The first Moto G5 Plus with Dual Autofocus Pixels, it locks onto the target in the blink of an eye so you never miss a shot. By utilizing 10x more pixels on the sensor, you can focus on your subject up to 60 percent faster than Moto G4 Plus.”

Motorola says that “the camera software in Moto G5 Plus includes our signature “Best Shot” feature” which captures multiple shots before and after the screen is touched, analyzing the issues like blurred subjects or blinking eyes, before recommending the best picture to keep. Further, the camera also features the professional mode allows adjustment of various aspects like focus, white balance, shutter, ISO & exposure compensation making it a treat for photography lovers.”

Available as of today, the Moto G5 and G5 Plus are available through JB Hi Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys Stores, Officeworks and Motorola’s own online store.

The standard G5 arrives with an RRP of $299. Meanwhile, the low-end model of the G5 Plus (featuring 3GB RAM and 16GB of ROM) is priced at $399. In comparison, the higher-specced model (featuring 4GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage) will run you a little bit more at $449.
