Motorola’s Edge 70 lineup could soon gain a new flagship model, with freshly leaked images and specifications pointing to the arrival of the Motorola Edge 70 Max.

The upcoming handset is expected to sit at the top of the Edge 70 family, which already includes five models. Earlier reports suggested Motorola was preparing an Edge 70 Ultra, but the latest information indicates the company may instead launch a device branded as the Edge 70 Max.

According to leaked marketing materials, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, positioning it firmly in the premium Android segment. While it will not feature the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, the chipset is still expected to deliver flagship-level performance for gaming, multitasking and AI-powered features.

The leaked renders showcase three colour options, including Onyx Black, Sage Green and Glacier Blue. Motorola appears to be continuing its focus on premium finishes, with the device sporting a sleek design that aligns with the rest of the Edge range.

Photography is also expected to be a major selling point. The Edge 70 Max is tipped to feature a triple-camera system headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia sensor. While details of the secondary cameras remain unclear, the setup suggests Motorola is targeting users looking for a versatile mobile photography experience.

The handset is also expected to arrive with an AMOLED display, offering vibrant colours, deep contrast and improved viewing angles compared to traditional LCD panels.

Durability could receive a boost as well. The leak confirms MIL-STD 810H certification, a military-grade standard that evaluates resistance to environmental conditions such as shock, vibration and temperature extremes. Reports suggest the device could also launch with an official IP rating for water and dust resistance, although this has yet to be confirmed.

One image appears to show the phone resting on a wireless charging pad, indicating support for cable-free charging. However, no details have emerged regarding battery capacity, charging speeds or whether reverse wireless charging will be included.

Motorola has not announced pricing or availability, making it difficult to determine exactly where the Edge 70 Max will fit within the company’s growing smartphone portfolio. It also remains unclear whether the previously rumoured Edge 70 Ultra and the newly leaked Edge 70 Max are separate devices or simply different names for the same product.
