A week ago, Channel News reported on the details that had leaked out about Oppo’s next-generation flagship smartphones, the Find X9 series.

There have now been further revelations.

Ones confirming the phones will launch in October in China, as expected.

After the China launch, the series will get a global launch, meaning the new Oppp phones will be in Australian stores before Christmas.

The latest revelations focus on the Find X9 Pro. Like the Find X9 Ultra, the Pro is rumoured to make use of Sony components.

Reportedly, it will have a rear camera set-up comprising a 50MP Sony LYT-828 primary sensor, a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 ultrawide, and a 200MP ISOCELL HP5 periscope with 3x optical zoom.

Up front, there’s a selfie-friendly 50MP JN5 sensor with autofocus.

Oppo is betting that a clever camera and formidable battery will win the day

Like the base model, the Pro is expected to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, which is due to launch on September 22.

It seems previous leaks undersold the Find X9’s battery, and it will be a 7,550mAh cell with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Other mooted features include a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED around 1.5K resolution, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and a multifunction key.

The device will ship with ColorOS 16 based on Android 16.

Oppo appears to be keeping the pricing similar to the Find X8 series.

That means the Find X9 Pro will find itself locked in a high-stakes competition with two other soon-to-be-released flagship phones – the iPhone 17 Pro and the Galaxy S25+.

We’ll soon learn if Oppo’s heavy-duty battery and impressive camera are enough to pose a serious threat to Apple and Samsung.
