Microsoft has increased pricing across its Surface range, with updated figures now appearing on its official store and expected to spread to retailers soon. The changes affect both laptops and hybrid devices, with some models seeing notable jumps compared to their original launch pricing.

The 15-inch Surface Laptop 7 now starts at around A$2,460, up from roughly A$2,000 at launch in 2024, with a smaller increase applied last year before this latest adjustment. Higher-end configurations have climbed even further, with top specifications now reaching about A$5,600 depending on memory and storage upgrades.

Surface Pro devices have also been affected. The 12-inch version now begins at approximately A$1,620, compared to around A$1,230 previously, while the 13-inch model has risen to about A$2,300 from its earlier A$1,540 starting point.

The increases are being linked to rising costs for key components such as RAM and storage, driven in part by growing demand from artificial intelligence workloads. Similar pricing pressure is being felt across the wider technology sector, with smartphones, gaming hardware and storage devices all seeing upward shifts.

With new Surface models expected in the near future, current pricing may remain elevated if component costs continue to climb.
