Meta Launches First-Ever Smart Glasses Trade-in Program Running Through December
Meta is rolling out its first trade-in program for smart glasses, giving customers a new way to save on upgraded models. The pilot program runs through December 31 and, according to a legal page on Metaâs website, offers trade-in discounts on several products including the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, Oakley Meta HSTN and Oakley Meta Vanguard. The Meta Ray-Ban Display is not included, and neither are limited edition or refurbished models.

The program allows owners of first-gen Ray-Ban Meta glasses to trade in for an upgrade, but Meta is also offering trade-in credit on a surprising category: earbuds. The list of eligible models includes:
Apple AirPods Pro
Apple AirPods Pro 4
Beats Powerbeats Pro 2
Beats Studio Buds +
Beats Fit Pro
Samsung Galaxy Buds3
Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro
Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE

One point of confusion stands out. There is currently no product called Apple AirPods Pro 4, so Meta may have meant AirPods 4 or AirPods Pro 3. Meta has not clarified the label.
To access the discount, customers must buy their smart glasses directly through Meta. After adding an eligible pair to the cart, a box with the trade-in offer should appear above the item. Some users on Reddit reported that the offer did not show up until they switched browsers, so refreshing your setup may help if the option is missing.
Trade-in values differ based on the device and its condition. That amount provides a noticeable break on the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and features double the battery life of the previous generation along with an improved camera.
