LG Ramps Up OLED TV Offering, No One Told LG OZ
LG who have still not appointed a new marketing manager in Australia after Lambro Skropidis quit to take on a new role at Electrolux, announced the new OLED TV’s that support High Dynamic Range video overnight.
This time yesterday LG Australia who appear to be one of the last LG subsidiaries in the world to get products was saying that they did not have “a clue” as to what LG was launching at IFA.
Now we can reveal that the Korean Company has announced a new TV line-up for Berlin’s IFA 2015 technology tradeshow, set to kick off next week.
LG is going to turn out four new WebOS 2.0-powered OLED TVs at the event, and they’ll all be 4K friendly.
Sales of UHD televisions are trending upwards, so it’s no surprise that the South Korean tech giant wants to bank on the growth.
What’s more, three of the four new TVs will support High Dynamic Range video.
Netflix recently pledged to start peddling HDR content in the near future, so we’ll start to see a lot more HDR-friendly TVs in the future.
“Anyone who sees our newest TVs at this year’s IFA will walk away without a shred of doubt that HDR and OLED complement each other perfectly,” explains Lee In-kyu, senior VP of LG’s TV division.
In-kyu continues: “Our expanded 4K OLED TV lineup will demonstrate to consumers that OLED is here to stay and that LG is committed to leading the next generation TV market.”
The new models include the following:
LG 55EF9500 – 55-inches, OLED, HDR, 4K, flat
LG 65EF9500 – 65-inches, OLED, HDR, 4K, flat
LG 55EG9200 – 55-inches, OLED, 4K, curved, 4.1mm thin
LG 55EG9100 – 55-inches, OLED, HDR, 4K, flat, 4.1mm thin
All four TVs will be available from the end of August in the UK, as well as the USA, Germany, and South Korea. It appears that LG Australia has not got a clue when the new models will be launched in Australia.
If you’re out at IFA 2015, you can check out the screens at LG’s Booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin between September 4-9.
