Macs, iOS Gadgets Gaining Ground In Business, Schools
Apple equipment including Macs and iOS phones are making major inroads into Australian business after operators found them easier to manage than other rival devices, such as PC, Chromebook and Android, according to a global survey of IT professionals commissioned by Jamf, a company involved in device management.
In the enterprise, the survey says Apple has been gaining ground, with 91 percent of businesses now using Mac to some extent and 99 percent using iPhone, iPad or both.
It adds that nearly half of organisations surveyed, or 44 percent, now offer employees a choice between Mac and PC, while 71 percent offer a choice between iPhone and other mobile device brands.
“When asked how managing Apple devices stack up against the competition, IT [departments ranked Mac and iOS devices as easy, if not easier, to manage than other device brands.,” the survey ays.
Apple devices are also prominent in education, where many K-12 schools use Mac, while a substantial 90pc use iPad to enhance education. In higher education, Apple is claimed to be making a bigger impact with 80 percent using Macs and 94 percent leveraging iPads.
