Paramount, US parent company of Network Ten, has sacked a number of local workers in its streaming division, including its senior vice president and head of streaming at Paramount ANZ.
Senior VP Liz Baldwin (pictured below) is among at least four employees being made redundant, as part of a global shuffle.
Australia falls under Paramount’s international team — as does every region outside the US — which is led by Pamela Kaufman.
Kaufman announced the firings in an email to Australian staff this morning.
Paramount ANZ’s chief content officer Beverley McGarvey will become head of Paramount+ in Australia. Chief operating and commercial officer Jarrod Villani, will be “regional head”, and report back on local operations in the continued “globalising” of the company.
This comes as Paramount plans to launch Pluto TV in Australia as a standalone service, following the integration of a few FAST channels into the 10Play service.
Channel Ten remains the only free-to-air network without a major sporting code, making this Pluto TV play vital to its continued success in Australia’s competitive market.
