LG Rollable Smartphone Still Happening Despite Mobile Exit Rumours
LG Electronics has confirmed it is still planning on releasing its rollable smartphone despite persistent rumours the company is exiting the mobile business altogether.
LG teased the rollable model at Virtual CES 2021, making it the first time the South Korean company will explore the foldable phone market after struggled to market its Velvet and Wing models.
However, a spokesman for LG told GizmoChina it will still launch a rollable device sometime in the future and confirmed it is ‘still on the way’.
Earlier this year reports suggested LG was planning to scrap development of the phone as it considers leaving the competitive mobile business.
LG has not confirmed or denied it was in talks to leave smartphone production in its wake.
“I can firmly deny that any such decision on future mobile products has been finalized,” a spokesman for the company said.
The LG Rollable – if released – will be the second smartphone in the LG Explorer Project. The first was the swivelling LG Wing which was released last year.
More to come.
