LG Developing OLED Panels For iPad

LG Display is currently developing two separate OLED panels for use in a future generation of Apple’s iPad.

LG Display is working on 12.9-inch and 11-inch models, sources tell TheElec, while Samsung is also currently working on an 11-inch display for Apple.

Apple plans to create a two-stack tandem structure for the panels, allowing for double the brightness, and four times the lifespan of a single stack OLED panels. Apple will also apply its low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistors, which offers a 120Hz refresh rate.

The models will not come to market until 2024.
