Lenovo Launch New ThinkPad With Intel 10th-Gen Chip
Lenovo has announced its latest line of ThinkPad laptops which are powered by the latest 10th-gen Intel Core processors.
The updated commercial laptop includes 10th-gen Intel Core processor refresh on the premium X1 Carbon, the X1 Yoga, the X390 and the T490.
Also announced are upgrades to Lenovo’s more affordable range of laptops, the L13 and L13 Yoga.
Local pricing and availability has yet to be confirmed.
According to Lenovo, the new laptops will “address the needs of a new generation workforce and their dynamic workspaces”.
The latest ThinkPad range features ThinkShield security as standard, as well as the ability to stay connected with LTE-A Wireless WAN and Wi-Fi 6 in the latest select models.
The hybrid HD+IR Camera with ThinkShutter protects users from prying eyes, while secure multi-factor authentication is possible with Windows Hello, along with a match-on-host fingerprint reader.
“The ThinkPad line-up continues to offer premium usability experience through vivid high-definition displays, immersive Dolby Audio, and the renowned ThinkPad keyboard,” Lenovo added.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon will run Intel’s recently announced 10th-gen Comet Lake chips, in both Core i5 and Core i7 options, and also has Intel’s Project Athena label, which promises to deliver at least nine hours of battery life.
The ThinkPad X1 Yoga will be getting a similar update in terms of its processor, though will not be getting Intel’s Project Athena label like the X1 Carbon.
As for the new ThinkPad T490 and X390, new chips will also be implemented (both with Core i5 and Core i7 options) but will remain unchanged in terms of design and aesthetics.
Finally, on top of the chip upgrade, the ThinkPad L13 and L13 Yoga seems to have gotten the most substantial updates, offering a thinner and lighter design, brighter displays, smaller bezels, an optional IR camera for Windows Hello, as well as a the ThinkShutter integrated webcam cover.
“We know from user insights that the next-gen workforce expects much more flexible working methods,” said Jerry Paradise, vice-president, Commercial Product and portfolio Management, Intelligent Devices Group, Lenovo.
“This includes the need to work from anywhere, anytime with technological tools at their disposal that are fast, secure, intuitive and mobile.”
“Our unparalleled family of ThinkPad laptops gives business professionals smarter productivity, security and connectivity experiences, along with greater choice in selecting the device that’s right for them.”
Aside from a boost in specs, the latest range of ThinkPad laptops will largely have the same design as previous models.
The latest ThinkPad laptops will be showcased at next week’s IFA 2019 trade show.
