Klipsch Sales Lift in Australia Amid Global Struggles for Parent Company Voxx
Despite Australian distributor Westan reporting stronger local sales for Klipsch audio products over the past 12 months, concerns are growing over the global future of parent company Voxx International, now owned by Gentex Corporation.
Gentex’s latest financial results suggest that Voxx’s audio business has continued to slide since the acquisition in 2024 — drawing comparisons to the Masimo Corporation’s troubled integration of Sound United, which also failed to deliver the expected growth following the sale of the business.
In Voxx’s case, it’s automotive parts executives — not audio specialists — now grappling with how to manage a consumer electronics business that’s increasingly becoming a drag on profits.
For the most recent quarter, Voxx reported net sales of US$84.9 million, though Gentex notably chose not to publish a direct comparison to the previous quarter.
A look back at last year’s pre-acquisition results paints a grim picture: Voxx’s fiscal 2025 second-quarter sales, ending August 31, 2024, came in at US$92.5 million, down 18.6% from US$113.6 million in the same period a year earlier.
Overall, year-to-date the quarters sales have fallen 8.2% compared to the prior year.
Gentex’s forecasts offer little reassurance. The company now expects annual audio revenues between US$250 million and US$270 million, which represents a 44% decline from fiscal 2024 levels — and slightly below its earlier projection of US$240 million to US$280 million, indicating that conditions have worsened further in recent months.
In Australia, the key question now is whether Harvey Norman will continue to range the Klipsch brand, which remains popular locally thanks to its strong heritage and distinctive retro styling.
