Garmin’s Virb X And Virb XE HD Action Cams Arrive In Oz

GarminThe Virb X and Virb XE sport an updated design, which is waterproof up to 50 metres, while offering a number of video and audio modes.

The Virb XE can shoot HD footage at 1440p/30fps and 1080p/60fps, with super slow-mo, image stabilisation and different zoom levels, while the Virb X shoots HD footage at 1080p/30fps and 720p/60fps with slow-mo and zoom options, while both models can capture still images with up to 12 MP image quality.

Garmin states that a hydrophobic flat glass lens on both models “ensures underwater shots are crystal clear, while transitions in and out of the water are unobstructed by droplets”, while both models feature a

new microphone, providing for clear audio even underwater, and Bluetooth audio connectivity for Bluetooth-enabled headsets or microphones.

Both models are equipped with ANT+ and Wi-Fi, connecting with the Virb app for smartphones and tablets, while G-Metrix utilises internal sensors, such as the GPS, accelerometer and gyroscope, tracking movements in real time and capturing performance data.

“With the updated design, enhanced recording options, built-in sensors and the introduction of G-Metrix, Virb X and XE represent a bold step forward in the evolution of action cameras for consumers and professionals alike,” Matt DeMoss, Garmin Australasia general manager, commented.

“We are extremely excited to bring these cameras to market, and see not only the content that users share, but also how far, how fast and how crazy their adventures really are.”

The Virb X carries a price tag of $429 RRP and the Virb XE $529 RRP.
