Netflix Reportedly Set For March 31 Aussie Launch

Netflix Reportedly Set For March 31 Aussie LaunchTech Guide has reported that the date and pricing was confirmed by a source at CES 2015, however Netflix has yet to officially confirm specific details of the launch.

Last November, Netflix announced it would launch in the Australian market in March, with the arrival of the on-demand streaming service set to see a significant change in the Australian digital media landscape.

The shadow of Netflix has long loomed over the local media industry, and there have been a number of movements in recent times ahead of its arrival.

Last December, Foxtel and Seven West Media announced a partnership to launch Presto Entertainment, a new TV on demand service, with it expected subscription video on demand content from both companies will be incorporated into Presto’s existing online subscription library.

Presto Entertainment is expected to launch in early 2015.

Also expected to launch in early 2015, is Stan, the Nine Entertainment Co. and Fairfax Media joint venture subscription video on demand service, which has announced a number of content partnerships, including a content licensing agreement with Viacom International Media Networks.

Pricing for both Presto Entertainment and Stan is yet to be confirmed.
