JBL has unveiled three new additions to its Quantum gaming headset range at Gamescom 2025, with the flagship Quantum 950 leading the charge alongside the mid-range Quantum 650 and entry-level Quantum 250.

The Harman-owned audio brand has gone back to the drawing board, redesigning its gaming headsets with upgraded drivers, modular construction and expanded software support via the revamped JBL QuantumENGINE.

All three models are Zoom-certified, reflecting JBL’s aim to appeal not just to gamers but also remote workers.

At the top end, the Quantum 950 introduces 50mm carbon dynamic drivers with Hi-Res certification, 3D head tracking, active noise cancellation and JBL’s Quantum Spatial Sound for pinpoint in-game accuracy.

A newly patented hammock-style headband with breathable mesh and memory foam cushions aims to deliver marathon comfort. The headset also debuts a hot-swappable dual-battery system, allowing continuous play by charging one cell while using the other. Connectivity spans low-latency 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, and wired options.

The Quantum 650 retains the same 50mm drivers and spatial audio but drops ANC, 3D tracking and RGB lighting. It still offers 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless support and boasts up to 45 hours of battery life, with swappable parts for extended longevity.

Rounding out the lineup, the Quantum 250 provides a wired 3.5mm solution with the same precision drivers and spatial audio, but without wireless, noise cancellation or lighting.

JBL’s latest push could put serious pressure on rivals like Razer, SteelSeries and Logitech in the battle for immersive sound.

The modular design of the three models mean users can replace mics, cushions and even cables, extending headset lifespan and reducing e-waste.

Pricing in Europe puts the Quantum 950 at €349.99 (A$575), the 650 at €149.99 (A$245), and the 250 at €59.99 (A$95). Australian pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed but the series is expected to launch locally later this year.

Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer Audio at Harman, said the new models deliver “professional-level gaming audio” across the range, with the updated QuantumENGINE software ensuring spatial audio compatibility with all existing JBL Quantum headsets.
