Jail For Plutus Fraud
SYDNEY: A man accused of dealing in the proceeds of crime in connection with an investigation into IT industry-focused payroll company Plutus Payroll, has been sentenced to up to four years jail.
Aaron Paul was convicted of dealing in the proceeds of crime in excess of $200,000 following an Australian Federal Police probe codenamed Operation Elbrus.
Hundreds of IT contractors were left without pay after the accounts of the payroll management company were frozen by the Australian Taxation Office in late April 2017.
The AFP alleged the company was run by a syndicate responsible for a $165 million tax fraud against the Federal Government.
