Samsung, Apple: OZ Fight Stopped
Apple and Samsung are not only two of the world’s biggest tech companies, but they have also famously been two of the world’s biggest litigants.
Apple’s famous billion-dollar win against Samsung in the US later turned into an amount around ten times smaller, with that battle still raging through appeals courts in the US, but litigation everywhere else has ceased.
The news arrived minutes ago from a very short media statement sent out by Samsung Australia.
The email stated: “Samsung and Apple have agreed to drop all litigation between the two companies outside the United States. This agreement does not involve any licensing arrangements, and the companies are continuing to pursue the existing cases in U.S. courts.”
The email also stated that “No further comment or interviews will be available.”
However, just because litigation has ceased outside the US doesn’t mean Apple and Samsung’s US battles will end anytime soon, so it will certainly pay to have some popcorn handy when the next round of US legal action explodes back onto the scene in the future.
Let the subdued battle continue!
