IRobot Expands Beyond Robot Vacuums With First Cordless Floor Cleaner
iRobot has entered a new product category with the launch of its first cordless floor cleaner, marking a shift beyond the robot vacuums that have defined the brand for more than two decades.
Called the Roomba Electro Plus, the handheld floor cleaner combines vacuuming, mopping and floor sanitisation in a single appliance designed for hard floor surfaces. Unlike the company’s robotic cleaners, the Electro Plus is manually operated and focuses on delivering multiple cleaning functions in one pass.
A key feature is its ability to convert ordinary tap water into hypochlorous acid using an electrical process. According to iRobot, the resulting solution can eliminate 99.99 per cent of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other germs without relying on chemical cleaning products. The company says the technology uses naturally occurring chlorine in tap water and produces a disinfecting solution that is safe for households with children and pets.
The Electro Plus also includes a ThermaClean dock that automatically washes, dries and sanitises the mop roller after use. It shares several technologies with iRobot’s latest robotic cleaners, including the self-cleaning PowerSpin Roller Mop and DirtDetect system, which increases water flow and cleaning intensity when it detects heavily soiled areas.

Battery life is rated at up to 35 minutes per charge, allowing users to clean areas of up to 120 square metres before recharging. The cleaner can also lie completely flat, making it easier to reach underneath furniture and other low spaces.
The Roomba Electro Plus is available now with a recommended retail price of approximately A$615.
Alongside the new cordless cleaner, iRobot has refreshed its robot vacuum range with several new models. Leading the line-up is the Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot with AutoWash Dock, priced at approximately A$1,535. It features LiDAR navigation, 3D home mapping, AI-powered obstacle detection and a self-cleaning mop system.
Also joining the range is the Roomba Max 715 Vacuum Robot with AutoEmpty Dock, which focuses solely on vacuuming and is priced at approximately A$1,075.
Three additional combination models have also been announced. The Roomba Plus 575 Combo Robot is priced at approximately A$1,230, the Roomba Plus 515 Combo Robot costs around A$1,075 and the Roomba Plus 415 Combo Robot is available for approximately A$920. Each model uses LiDAR navigation and includes an AutoWash dock, with differences largely coming down to suction performance and overall cleaning capability.
The announcements come as iRobot looks to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive floorcare market by broadening its product portfolio beyond autonomous cleaning devices.
Release date and pricing for Australia have not yet been confirmed.
