Intel Launch Next-Gen Chips For New ‘Thin & Light’ Laptops
Intel has ushered the next-generation of ‘Thin-and-Light’ laptops, unveiling its new Project Athena 11th Gen Intel Core mobile processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics (‘Tiger Lake’). The chips pledge around 2x faster gaming and streaming across Windows and ChromeOS-based notebooks.
The components claim to be the world’s best processors for thin-and-light laptops, pledging 2.7x faster content creation, more than 20% faster office productivity and over 2x faster gaming plus streaming.
Intel states there are over 150 designs in development – including twenty verified under the new Evo platform brand – with products expected from Acer, Asus, Dell, Dynabook, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, Razer and Samsung.
The company states over 20 Evo-verified designs could launch internationally later this year. Already announced products include the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 5G, next-gen Acer Swift and Swift 3, plus new ASUS ZenBooks.
The new processors promise a new performance standard for ultra-thin and light laptops, and also power the first class of Intel Evo platforms within the Project Athena program.
The 11th Gen Tiger Lake chips will also support Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6 and improved battery life versus the former Ice Lake chips.
