Insta360 Targets Vloggers With New Leica-Powered Luna Ultra Camera
Insta360 has expanded beyond its traditional action camera roots with the introduction of the Luna Ultra, a compact gimbal camera aimed at content creators and vloggers. Developed in collaboration with Leica, the device combines a dual-camera system with advanced stabilisation and high-resolution video capabilities.
The camera features a 1-inch main sensor paired with a bright f/1.8 lens and a 20mm equivalent focal length. Alongside it is a dedicated telephoto lens with a 60mm equivalent focal length and f/2.0 aperture. Users can take advantage of 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom and up to 12x digital zoom for greater shooting flexibility.

A notable design feature is the removable 2-inch touchscreen display, which can operate as a wireless monitor and remote controller. This allows users to frame and capture footage from up to 20 metres away, while supporting both portrait and landscape shooting formats.
Video recording extends to 8K at 30fps, while 4K recording is available at up to 120fps. Slow-motion footage can be captured at up to 240fps in 4K. The Luna Ultra also supports 10-bit video, Dolby Vision and I-Log recording.
Additional features include four-microphone audio capture, 47GB of internal storage, microSD expansion up to 1TB and a battery rated for up to four hours of use. The Luna Ultra is available in black and white finishes and is priced at approximately $1,229 at JB Hi-Fi.
