Panasonic To Launch New DVRs/Blu-Rays ‘In Weeks’
Company to launch a full range of new digital players and recorders in the coming weeks.
Smart boxes with internet connectivity including DVD and Blu-Ray recorders are hot products right now, says Richard Tassone, Panasonic’s General Marketing Manager, Consumer Electronics.
In particular, high spec Blu-Ray players that connect to the internet are in “large demand” with consumers.
People may have a TV that is a few years old and a high spec box with features like a web browser, Full HD playback, 4K upscaling, and Multiroom streaming, allows them to upgrade their viewing experience without having to actually buy a Smart TV.
There is still demand for Personal Video Recorders (PVR) but this is changing over time. Viewers still love the convenience of pre-recording and watching TV shows at their leisure, Tassone says.
Panasonic currently has around 15 boxes on sale in Australia; from Blu-Ray players, Full HD PVR’s right up to 4K compatible players at higher price brackets, according to its website.
However, it will not be replacing some of the models in the current range.
Pana will be making an announcement on the new line up later this month.
