IFA 2016: Samsung Brings Quantum Dot Tech To Curved Gaming Monitors
Samsung will add to its curved gaming monitor line-up at IFA 2016 this week, introducing a number of new quantum dot curved monitors.
The new monitors will comprise the CFG70 (24” and 27” models) and the CF791 (34” model), with Samsung to highlight how quantum dot tech, already featured in its UHD televisions, “brings the intricacies of today’s video games to life”.
“As the first curved quantum dot gaming monitors, Samsung’s CFG70 and CF791 express brilliant colours across a 125 per cent sRGB spectrum, while employing an environmentally safe cadmium-free design,” Samsung states.
“This luminance emphasises a range of otherwise-hidden game details in both light and dark settings, offering unprecedented visual realism designed to capture the attention of even the most hardcore gamers.”
Sporting a “Super Arena” design, Samsung states that the CFG70 aligns 1800R curvature with sound-interactive LED lighting.
“This format also includes 1 m/s moving picture response time, making it the first curved gaming monitor to offer such functionality,” Samsung states. “A rapid refresh rate of up to 144 Hz further ensures a seamless and uninterrupted presentation.”
Samsung states that the CFG70’s Gaming UX OSD interface provides an “intuitive on-screen dashboard to view all essential settings, ranging from response time to refresh rate, in a single glance”, while gameplay settings can be adjusted through shortcut hot keys on the front and back of the monitor.
Samsung states that, with a 1500R curvature design (a curvature radius of 1,500 mm), the “CF791 is the most curved gaming monitor currently on the market”.
“Combined with a 100 Hz refresh rate and embedded AMD FreeSync technology, functionality that synchronises screen refresh rates with gamers’ AMD graphics cards, the CF791 monitor offers consistent full-screen presentation,” Samsung states.
“Additionally, the CF791’s ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio further preserves content quality during multi-screen competition.”
Samsung states that the CF791’s “boundless design removes visual distraction”, with users able to customise the monitor’s alignment via a vertically adjustable stand.
