Google Renews Focus On Hardware, Revamping Online Store

Recent reports reveal Google is debuting an upgraded website for its online store next month, set to better promote its hardware family (e.g. Google Home), as the battle against Amazon intensifies.

Google Assistant will be better highlighted on the revamped website. The website will debut a ‘recognisable’ aesthetic across its hardware family, with Google Assistant the unifying factor.

According to Bloomberg Google’s renewed commitment to hardware forms part of its strategy to combat rival Amazon, and its expanding product family (e.g. Echo range).

eMarketer estimates that Amazon’s Echo will boast a 68% share in the smart speaker market this year, compared to Google Home’s 25%.
