Google Mid-Range Pixel 3a Tipped

Google is on track to announce a more affordable version of its flagship Pixel 3 device, dubbed the Pixel 3a and 3a XL, according to reports.

A “reliable” source confirmed to 9to5Google that the affordable premium smartphones are on their way.

The 3a will reportedly feature a 5.6-inch OLED display with 2220×1080 at 440dpi and the 3a XL will have a 6-inch screen.

According to the source, the 3a will come with 4GB of RAM and run on a Snapdragon 670 processor, much less powerful than the Pixel 3’s Snapdragon 845 but perfectly serviceable.

It will also include a 12MP rear camera — perhaps similar to the Pixel 3’s camera — and a wide-angle 8-MP wide-angle selfie camera.

Pixel 3 is known for its stellar 12MP rear camera, if this leak proves accurate that could indicate that the same camera could be featured on this device.

The source hasn’t confirmed how the 3a XL differs from the 3a, other than size one could assume.

9to5Google’s source claims the midrange smartphones will feature Active Edge squeezable sides, the Titan M security chip, eSIM, and 64GB of storage.

The source gave no indication of pricing or availability.

Google has not responded to these reports, but it does indicate that the tech company is looking to introduce an affordable premium smartphone to the market.
