Global Notebook Shipments Down 14%

Global notebook shipments from the top-5 vendors dived 14% on-month in April, with Lenovo beating HP for the top spot, amid strong Chromebook procurement orders.

Despite the on-month decline, Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimesasserts the results are stronger than the same time last year.

The news follows an improvement in the global notebook sector, with Taiwanese manufacturers posting a significant jump in Q1Y19 shipments.

Former market leader, HP, notched a whopping ~40% on-month drop in April, citing under-performance from its enterprise division.

Strong Chromebook shipments propped Dell to a marginal 1% on-month slip.

The news marks HP the worst performing vendor in the top-5 for the month.

Top three ODM notebook shipments also dived 11% on-month.
