Global 5G Network Revenues To Reach $4.2bn In 2020: Gartner

IT researcher Gartner says worldwide 5G wireless network infrastructure revenues will reach US$4.2 billion, in 2020, an 89% increase from $2.2 billion this year.

Gartner forecasts investments in 5G New Radio network infrastructure will account for 6% of the total wireless infrastructure revenues of communications service providers in 2019 and will reach 12% in 2020.

The researcher says 5G services will launch in many major cities in 2019 and 2020 and have already begun in the US, South Korea and some European countries, including Switzerland, Finland and the UK.

Gartner estimates that 7% of 5G service providers worldwide have already deployed 5G infrastructures in their networks and will increasingly aim 5G services at enterprises. The 5G mobile ecosystem will eventually cover new industries, such as smart factories, autonomous transport, remote healthcare, agriculture and retail sectors, as well as enable private networks for industrial users.
