Flash Gets Flushed By Firefox

Mozilla has begun the long and torturous process of moving away from Adobe’s Flash technology in its Firefox browser. Mozilla will reduce its support for Flash in stages, blocking Flash videos and games by default at some unspecified time next year.

The open-source developer blames browser plug-ins, especially Flash, for stability, performance and security issues associated with Firefox.

Mozilla estimates the first stage of its move away from Flash should reduce Flash-related crashes by 10 percent.
