Fitbit Founders Launch App To Track Family Health
Fitbit co-founders James Park and Eric Friedman are back, this time tackling a problem even bigger than personal fitness: family health.
Their new venture, Luffu, aims to help caregivers manage the wellbeing of kids, parents, partners and pets through an AI-powered family care system.
“Health isn’t personal, it’s shared,” said Park (pictured right). “Luffu is the product we wished existed to stay on top of our family’s health, know what changed, and step in when needed – without hovering.”
The system begins as an app that tracks health data, learns family routines and flags meaningful changes.

Users can log medications, symptoms, diet, lab tests, doctor visits and more via text, voice, or photos, while AI provides proactive insights rather than reactive prompts.
A key feature, Guardian Moments, alerts caregivers to important changes, aiming to reduce the constant mental load many experience when managing family health.
Friedman (pictured left) explained that Luffu grew from his personal experience managing care across three generations.
“The moments that matter most, like a late-night fever or sudden urgent care visit, are often the most chaotic. Luffu helps capture these details in real time, so caregiving feels coordinated, not overwhelming.”

The startup addresses a gap in today’s health tech market, which largely focuses on individual users.
With family health information scattered across portals, devices, and paper records, Luffu centralises everything in a single hub with strong privacy controls.
The name Luffu nods to the Old English word lufu, meaning love.
The app will expand into first-party hardware products over time, complementing its digital service.
