Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo Hits PlayStation Store

PS4 owners now have the chance to trial one of 2020’s most-anticipated games over a month ahead of its full release.

Japanese publisher Square Enix launched a free demo of Final Fantasy VII Remake on the PlayStation Store today, allowing players to sample the first chapter of the full game.

The chapter includes the “iconic Mako Reactor 1 bombing mission” that features playable characters Cloud and Barret infiltrating the Shinra Electric Power Company to plant a bomb, escape and fight a boss battle against the Scorpion Sentinel. The demo lets players experience the re-designed combat system.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a complete remake of Final Fantasy VII, originally released in 1997 for the first PlayStation console. Final Fantasy VII is a fan-favourite and the best-selling game in the Final Fantasy series.

Square Enix has said Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released episodically. The first release, coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 on April 10, is thought to contain approximately the first 10% of the game.
