Jason Oh who was appointed sales director at TP Vision, the manufacturer of Philips TVs has gone from the business and is now working as a day contractor to Laser Corporation in between stints on TVSN.

Back in 2019 TP Vision appointed Oh, as Sales Manager, after setting up a local subsidiary in Australia, in an effort to grow their TV business, the move surprised a lot of retailers due to Oh’s lack of high-level sales experience having spent the bulk of his career in product management across multiple Companies.

Oh, has worked for Laser Corporation in the past as well as Panasonic, Tempo, and several other Companies, he currently describes himself as “Guest Presenter” for Hitachi TV’s at TVSN on his LinkedIn profile.

According to Laser Corporation CEO Chris Lau, Oh is working on “product management” with factories in China and on several new projects for Laser Corporation products that will be launched in Australia shortly.

According to retailers the exit of Oh could see TP Vision whose operations in Australia are managed out of Singapore, resorting back to using distributors to sell their products in Australia, currently both Harvey Norman and The Good Guys are ranging mid-range Philips TV’s.

Philips AV products spanning audio and TVs are highly popular in Europe and in the UK but despite being known in Australia the Company has failed to invest in marketing or PR for their products which includes award winning TVs including one OLED TV model that had a Harman Kardon soundbar built in.

Recently TP Vision announced a new ‘hybrid’ combined live and online event for the launch of new products at IFA 2022 in Berlin in September.

The event will highlight TP Vision’s forthcoming Philips TV and sound products and will reveal TP Vision’s industry progress on product design and sustainability.

At this stage it’s not known whether any of the new 2022 products will be launched in Australia.

The Berlin event will follow the established format of being opened with an international press conference on August 31st hosted both online and live in Berlin by the CEO of TP Vision, Kostas Vouzas.

Special guest speakers will participate in the eve to unveil more details about exciting current and new TP Vision partnerships and projects.

Retailers in Australia believe there is a market for Philips Premium TV’s as consumers desert Chinese branded TV’s such as Hisense.
