Anthony Liberto the former National Product and Marketing Manager of Computer Hardware at Harvey Norman is set to join Officeworks.

Liberto who was shown to door at his former employer after a falling out with senior management has not explained why he suddenly left the mass retailer who has been losing share to JB Hi Fi in the PC market.

ChannelNews has been told it involved “relationships” and “links with Microsoft”.

Earlier this week Wesfarmers reported that Officeworks had boosted its EBIT 7.1% to $167 billion, and the combination of Bunnings and Officeworks accounted for 76% percent of the company’s profit growth.

Analysts claim that there could be trouble ahead for the company with Bunnings and Officeworks seeing a slowdown in sales growth since the end of the 2018-19 financial year in June.

Currently Officeworks is looking to expand their Connected Home category along with their online business.
