EU Issues Deadline For Net Rules
The European Union’s executive body has given US social media companies one month to comply with consumer regulation.
On Friday the EU gave Facebook, Twitter and Alphabet’s social networking channel Google an ultimatum to address scams and fraud on their platforms and bring their terms into line with the bloc’s consumer rules – or else face enforcement action.
The move by the commission and consumer protection agencies is aimed at pressuring IT companies to change their business practices and make them more accountable.
