DTS Adds Compatible TVs To Play-Fi Home Theatre

DTS is planning to add compatible televisions to its Play-Fi Home Theatre, enabling users to connect with their wireless surround speaker systems.

The first TVs supporting Play-Fi will be available from next quarter, and DTS has confirmed that the televisions won’t require any hardware changes. Phillips, Hisense, Loewe, and Sharp are all currently developing new Play-Fi systems, so it can be assumed their TVs will be compatible.

DTS Play-Fi was one of the earliest wireless audio streaming platforms with a wide range of compatible products, serving over 27 different brands, including Klipsch, Pioneer, Sonos, Onkyo, Audiolab, and numerous others.

Play-Fi users will be able to add their TVs as the central channel in their multichannel speaker setup – or simply connect with a Play-Fi enabled soundbar.
