Disney Teams With Movie Studios To Sell Direct
Disney has partnered with several major movie studios to offer consumers a movie locker platform compatible with multiple streaming services.
The service is called Movies Anywhere and will require users to redeem a code online to view the film.
Major Hollywood studios have welcomed the service, with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Film, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Entertainment on board.
The service that will initially launch in the US, with other countries to follow in the near future, will let users access a database of over 7,000 movies.
Streaming services like Amazon Video, Google Play, iTunes and the Wallmart service, Vudu will support Movies Anywhere.
Once the preferred streaming service has been linked to Movies Anywhere, users will be able to access titles in one place either on the website or the Movies Anywhere app.
At the moment, Movies Anywhere app is supported on iOS or Android devices, with no gaming console apps announced.
