New Denon Wireless Subwoofer For Home Kit

Continuing their recent rapid-fire approach to releases, Denon have added a wireless subwoofer to their growing Home family.

Aptly named the Denon Home Subwoofer, the new device contains an 8-inch driver, enclosed within a simplistic and modern black box lined with acoustic fabric, that neatly fits into the aesthetic signature of the rest of the range.

It’s congruity with the rest of the Home range extends beyond its good looks however. The Denon Home Subwoofer was specifically designed to connect with any speaker in the Denon Home family of wireless products, including the Denon Home Sound Bar 550.

Just like the rest of the Home range, the subwoofer supports Denon’s HEOS multiroom audio system, allowing users to stream audio throughout their entire home.

Pairing the Denon Home Subwoofer with a pair of Home wireless speakers and the Home Sound Br 550 results in a 5.1 surround sound experience. If needing to adjust for room acoustics or other factors, users can change settings through the HEOS app, which features controls for output level, low-pass filter, and phase.

Denon have been extremely busty over the last few months, starting with a release of three new home theatre receivers in October last year, followed by its first ever range of wireless earbuds in November, and then the Denon DHT-S517 in January – the company’s first ever Dolby Atmos-capable soundbar.

While power statistics for the Home Subwoofer are yet to be disclosed, Denon say that the new low-end speaker will “provide the rich bass response that today’s high-resolution recordings deserve”. That being said, further inspection of their promo images reveals the Home Subwoofer to have 120W of power.

The Home range and HEOS system were designed specifically for competing with Sonos. The Sonos Sub, their competing wireless subwoofer is considerably more expensive then the new Denon release, costing $749 USD as opposed to $599 USD for the Home Subwoofer.
