Security group CrowdStrike, stripped retailers of millions of dollars in revenue, left travelers stranded at airports for days and took down over 8.5 million Windows computers, and their idea of compensation is a $10 Uber Eats Card.

Despite businesses around the world becoming a sea of blue screens of death the big US Company who are facing being sued by both large businesses and insurance Companies appears to have believed that a $10 Uber Eats card was a good idea that was until they heard the howl of “What a joke” from affected businesses.

Chief Business Officer Daniel Bernard said the company recognizes it caused “additional work” for cybersecurity and IT staff who helped CrowdStrike’s clients recover. “And for that, we send our heartfelt thanks and apologies for the inconvenience,” he said in the email which includes a code for an Uber Eats credit, reads, “To express our gratitude, your next cup of coffee or late night snack is on us!”

The gift card was an attempt to apologies’ but it spectacularly backfired when some clients tried to use the gift card on Uber Eats, they only saw a screen telling them that the offer had been rescinded by the issuing party.

CrowdStrike has yet to comment on this matter and at this stage it’s not known how many clients in Australia received the voucher offer.

CrowdStrike blamed the global system outage on a bug in an update that contained “problematic data.” The bug forced machines running on Windows into a boot loop that caused mass delays at airports, delayed scheduled surgeries and other operations at hospitals and disruptions at banks and even the London Stock Exchange.

Currently Microsoft and CrowdStrike are still dealing with the fallout.
