Crest Fly In Retailers To ‘Explain’ After Director Charged With Rape Of 12 Year Old
Brisbane based distributor The Crest Company has taken to flying in some of the biggest CE retailers in Australia to ‘Explain” after one of the directors was charged with underage sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Crest manufacturers and sells several consumer electronic brands including Liquid Ears headphones, Influencer production gear, other brands include Jolt, Crest Platinum,Asena Gaming Decord and Bon Voyage products as well as Tool Guardian.
ChannelNews understands that buyers from Harvey Norman and JB Hi Fi, were flown to the Companies headquarters after ChannelNews exclusively revealed, that Dirk Olbertz who describes himself as a director of the Company was charged by Queensland Police with three offences relating to the rape of a female under 16 years of age and ‘indecent treatment of girls under 16 years of age.
The girl was 12 at the time.
Dirk Olbertz is the son of the founder of the business that use to be called Crest Electronics,today he is in London.
ChannelNews understands that he left for Bali after we broke the original story.
It’s also emerged that Ralph Olbertz brother of Dirk Olbertz who is also a director of The Crest Company holding Company had a six-year relationship with the woman making the allegations later in her life, he has not committed any offences.
Dirk Olbertz has told ChannelNews that he is “not guilty” and that the charges will “Shortly go away” he described the charges as “Bullshit.”
When ChannelNews first became aware of the charges against Dirk Olbertz we also contacted Mike Edgson the CEO of The Crest Company, who after becoming aware of what we intended to publish failed to return calls.
Shortly afterwards lawyers acting for Dirk Olbertz applied and obtained a gag order to prevent publication of information by ChannelNews.
After ChannelNews spoke to the Court the magistrate who had initially ordered a gag order lifted the gag order allowing ChannelNews to publish information relating to the charges.
Recently we forwarded Edson with a list of new questions relating to the Companies, past activities, and those of Dirl Olbertz after allegations were made about the Companies past activities and the actions of Dirk Olbertz.
Because of a possible trial in the case of Dirk Olbertz, we cannot publish and will not publish any of the details.
Edgson has failed to respond to any of our new questions some relating to the actions of former employees and their engagement with retailers both in Australia and during overseas trips.
ChannelNews has spoken to and written to, executives from retailers to ascertain their policy of engagement with a business where a director and major shareholder of a trust that owns the business has been charged with serious crimes against an underage girl.
The policy of the NRL and AFL and several other leading sporting codes is to stand down players charged with criminal or rape charges until their case has been heard in a court of law.
The question now is whether retailer’s will suspend their relationship with The Crest Company until the charges against Dirk Olbertz relating to the rape of a 12-year-old girl is determined in a Queensland Court.
Dirk Olbertz is due to appear again in a Brisbane Court on the 27th of November 2023.
The Crest Company also supplies Bunnings, Big W and several other retailers.
