Crest Company Director Charged With Rape Of 12 Year Old Girl Remanded Over

Dirk Olbertz, a director of Brisbane base distributor The Crest Company, has been remanded over on bail to appear in a Queensland Court in February 2024 after being charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl.

Olbertz, who claims he is innocent, was charged after an extensive investigation by Brisbane-based Police, with a decision on his committal hearing set to be determined in February 2024.

Recently The Crest Company, a major supplier to Big W, Bunnings, JB Hi-Fi, and several other leading retailers, flew retail executives to Brisbane in an effort to explain the impact of the charges on the business, which is owned by a trust controlled by Dirk Olbertz and his brother Ralph.

According to information obtained by ChannelNews, Ralph Olbertz had a relationship with the woman several years after the historical incident.

Dirk Olbertz was well known to Queensland police before the latest charges of 2 x Indecent Treatment of Girls Under 16, and one of rape left the Country soon after a gag on ChannelNews reporting the laying of charges was lifted by a Melbourne magistrates court.

Mike Edgson, the CEO of The Crest Company and a close friend of Dirk Olbertz whose wife left him after other affairs with women, has not commented on the latest decision by the Queensland Court.

The last time we spoke to Edgson and Olbertz, they claimed the “matter will go away”.

Olbertz went on to claim that the woman wanted money. ChannelNews has ascertained that this was not the case, and the victim wants the matter to be decided by the Queensland Justice system.
