Acer has announced a new range of Spin Chromebooks at CES 2022 with larger screens. Supply is tipped to get better in Australia this year.

The new Spin 513 goes from a 13″ to 13.5-inch display. Acer has also swapped the Snapdragon 7c Compute SC7180 for the MediaTek Kompanio 1380, a new processor that also comes with eight cores.

Like the prior models, the new Spin PCs are flexible, so you can bend the screen back to use the Chromebook as a tablet or stand it on a flat surface to watch videos.

On the downside, the increase in display has seen a reduction in battery life. Instead of the previous 13.5 hours, you now only get 10 hours on a full charge, which is still not bad considering you can top up quickly from a portable battery.

The new Acer 315 now comes with a 15.6-inch display and a new Intel processor.

When released in 2019, it came with an AMD A-series processor and was one of the first Chromebooks to come with AMD silicon, but that changes with this newly announced Intel-based 315.

You can now choose from the Intel Celeron dual-core N4500, Celeron quad-core N5100, or the Pentium Silver N600, though this may change for Australian users.

The device also sports an OceanGlass touchpad, which Acer says is made with recycled plastic to achieve a “glass-like texture”, in addition to a wide-field-of-view HDR webcam.

Also announced is the Acer 314 Chromebook, which comes with a 14-inch anti-glare touchscreen display.

It also comes with the same options for Intel-based processors, OceanGlass touchpad, and has 10 hours of battery life.

Additionally, it has two built-in microphones with noise-reduction technology, along with a webcam that is said to help reduce distracting lighting issues.

Australian pricing for the new Acer PCs has not been announced yet.
