CES 2022: Samsung Takes TVs To A New Level

Samsung loves nothing better than taking technology to the next level, and this is very evident with their new TV range launched at CES today.

The line-up of 2022 QLED models packs all kinds of mini-LED tech into several new 4K and 8K TVs that come with Shape Adaptive Light Control, which Samsung claims delivers a new brightness capability.

There is also a new Samsung radio-wave-powered remote control that supports NFTs requirements. You can also play triple-A video games from the cloud instead of just your Xbox, PlayStation or PC.

As for support, Samsung is also locking in Nvidia’s GeForce Now, Google Stadia, and the Utomik cloud gaming service as part of a new Samsung Gaming Hub.

Brightness with the new Samsung mini-LED backlight system jumps from 12 bits to 14 bits (more is better), and there’s a new Object Depth Enhancer feature that uses the processor to analyse what’s on-screen and help make the subject more distinguishable while pushing the background into the background.

For gamers, there is 144Hz refresh rates coming to Neo QLED models in 2022. The first thing you will notice is a new home screen, “a testament to our vision for the future of TVs.” claims Samsung executives.

There are also three new hubs including a Media Screen, a Gaming Hub, and Ambient Mode.

If all you want to do is watch content you go to the Media Screen.

The Gaming Hub takes you to cloud-based gaming services including console games. It also works with existing third-party controllers and headsets.

Ambient Mode makes it easier than ever to have something on the screen, such as a picture when you’re not actively watching or playing something, a bit like Microsoft does with PC background images.

You can have art or photos, or even NFTs, because it’s 2022 and it’s all about non-fungible tokens, apparently.

Samsung has built in what it says is the world’s first television screen-based NFT explorer and aggregator, so you can preview, purchase, and then view an artistic NFT right there on your TV.

With the new Neo QLEDs, Samsung has listened to consumer complaints with the introduction of Active Voice Amplifier, Object Tracking Sound, and SpaceFit Sound.

In the past, TV viewers have complained of not being able to hear dialogue because of background noise.

If you’re using a Samsung Q950B Soundbar, it will automatically pair with the TV’s speakers for an even better surround sound experience.

Pre-made models include 99″ and 110-inch options, as well as a new 89-inch model, and if that’s not enough you can go to 178 inches.

The MicroLED sets feature Dolby Atmos and Samsung’s own Object Tracking Sound Pro feature, which projects audio according to what’s on-screen.

Again in 2022 one of the standout offerings from Samsung is their Frame TV.

It gets a new “Art Store”, which makes it easier to show all sorts of art on the Frame.

It’s got a new anti-reflective display the company claims makes art look even more realistic than ever, and new sizes mean you can go from 32 inches all the way to 85 inches.

There is also a new remote control.

The updated “Eco Remote” uses a “recycled material design”, and includes solar and RF harvesting for a “battery free experience”.

All you need to do is place the remote near to natural light and the solar side of things goes to work.
