CES 2019: Samsung Unveil Mammoth 98″ 8K QLED TV
As top-tier TV competition continues to heat up, Samsung has unveiled its largest QLED 8K TV yet – a whopping 98 inches, joining its existing stable of 85-inch, 82-inch, 75-inch and 65-inch models.
Debuted at CES 2019, the TV incorporates Samsung’s next-gen Quantum Processor 8K chip, with its 2019 TV lineup claimed to offer its best in QLED picture quality yet.
Harnessing Samsung’s proprietary AI-based technology, the TV claims to recognise and upscale any content – regardless of native resolution – to “near pristine” 8K quality.
Samsung asserts the TV is its “smartest and most powerful yet”, with upscaling technology supporting content via a streaming box, set-top box, HDMI, USB and even mobile screen mirroring.
The Korean giant’s 2019 lineup also pledges to offer more ways to search for content than before, via an improved AI algorithm which leverages a users’ subscription services and TV viewing habits.
Voice commands via Samsung’s new Bixby and AI remote offer enhanced control, whilst also supporting Amazon Echo and Google Home.
The news comes after Samsung announced it would soon offer iTunes Movies and Apple AirPlay 2 support on its 2019 Smart TVs.
