CES 2019: DJI Reveal Smart Controller with Built-In Display

The world’s leading drone manufacturer DJI has revealed their new ultimate drone accessory today at CES 2019: the Smart Controller with an ultra-bright display, available now from $1,099.

The DJI Smart Controller has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen built into the controller itself, eliminating the need to connect to a smartphone to control and monitor the drone.

The display has an output of 1000 cd/m2, nearly twice the brightness output of a standard smartphone, which is viewable even in direct sunlight.

The Smart Controller is compatible with DJI’s latest Mavic drones, the Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic 2 Pro, and is equipped with DJI’s OcuSync 2.0 video transmission system.

OcuSync 2.0 displays images in Full HD resolution and can automatically switch between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz to ensure a reliable feed even in long-range transmission (up to 8km).

The controller offers up to 2.5 hours of battery life and DJI claims it can continue working even in adverse conditions such as temperatures as cold as -20° Celsius and as hot as 40° Celsius.

Additionally, the Smart Controller includes pre-installed features like SkyTalk — for live streams to social media channels — and the DJI GO 4 app — to transfer imagery to your mobile device easily — as well as third-party apps.

The DJI Smart Controller features an inbuilt microphone and speaker for live-streaming and it can playback video via its HDMI port at 4K 60fps with H.264 and H.265.

The DJI Smart Controller is available now from the DJI website for AUD $1,099.
