Aussie online design outfit Canva is looking to raise more than $US10 million from existing investors including Blackbird Ventures, its second exercise in drumming up funds for the second time since last October when it raised $15 million.
Other investors are said to include Felicis Ventures, Matrix Partners, and Vayner Capital, the investment arm of Gary Vaynerchuk, while Hollywood actors Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson have also kicked into the round.
Canva CEO, 29-year-old Melanie Perkins, pictured, said she is also counting on support from former Google executives Lars Rasmussen, who co-founded Google Maps, and Wesley Chan, who founded Google Analytics and Google Voice.
“It’s an important aspect for us that we have the best of both worlds, a top-notch team here in Sydney, but we’ve also been able to benefit from having investors in Silicon Valley who understand the vision and want to achieve the same thing as us, which is to have a massive impact,” Perkins said.
Canva claims almost 12 million users who between them are said to have made more than 85 million designs
