Canon has launched the EOS R6 V, its first full-frame camera built specifically for vloggers and hybrid content creators, taking aim at Sony’s creator-focused ZV and FX camera range.

The new mirrorless camera packs a 32.5MP full-frame sensor capable of recording 7K RAW video at up to 60fps, along with 7K open-gate capture for creators shooting both vertical and horizontal content.

Canon says the R6 V is designed for users who “capture video on a daily basis”, combining cinema-grade video features with a compact handheld design.

Unlike Canon’s traditional EOS cameras, the R6 V drops the electronic viewfinder entirely in favour of a flip-out touchscreen and streamlined video-centric controls. The camera also includes active cooling, dual card slots, Canon Log 2 and Log 3 support, waveform monitoring and up to 180fps recording in 2K mode.

Canon claims overheating is no longer a concern, with the cooling system supporting more than two hours of continuous 7K RAW recording under normal conditions.

The company also unveiled the RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ, Canon’s first L-series RF lens with built-in power zoom, targeting vloggers, livestreamers and gimbal users.

The EOS R6 V will be available in Australia from mid-June, priced from $3,599. A kit with the RF 20-50mm lens will cost $5,399, while the lens alone is priced at $2,199.
