Canon Launches First 4K ‘Entry Level’ Mirrorless Camera

Bucking recent trends in the camera industry, Canon has unveiled its new ‘M50’ digital camera aimed not at professionals, but the average consumer and inexperienced photographer.

Canon has unveiled its new ‘EOS M50’, its first mirrorless M-series camera with Ultra HD 4K video.

Priced at US$780, Canon asserts the M50 is its new ‘entry-level’ M-series mirrorless camera – with the notable inclusion of 4K shooting.

Unfortunately, an Australian release date with local pricing is yet to be officially confirmed.

Featuring 24.1 megapixels, the APS-C model is capable of shooting 3,840 x 2,160 video at 24 frames-per-second, or 1080p video at 60 frames per second.

The M50 incorporates a new DIGIC 8 processor, OLED optical viewfinder – with touch and drag autofocus – flippable touchscreen and vaunted Dual-Pixel phase-detection AF.

The camera also debuts a new silent-shooting mode, and includes Bluetooth, WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity.
