Lenovo has launched a new Yoga Portal mini PC which is being touted as a device that can compete with Apple’s Mac Studio.

The Yoga Portal stands at a little over 4 inches tall (a little higher than the Mac Studio), 7.7 inches wide, and 7.9 inches deep.

It features the latest Core i7-14700 and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070.

It comes with 32 GB DDR5 RAM and 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. It also includes a dedicated M.2 slot that can be used to add an NPU card for on-device AI processing.

It has a built-in 350W power supply too. The front has a 3.5mm headphone jack, two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen2, and one USB Type-C 3.2 Gen2 port.

The back meanwhile has three DP 1.4, one HDMI 2.1, two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1, two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 2, and an RJ45 port.

Additionally, if you want to use the integrated GPU, there is also one HDMI 2.1 and one DP 1.4 port.

To ensure the device stays cool even when being used intensively, the mini PC features a triple thermal fan design that draws cool air from the top and pushes it out from the bottom back.

Comparisons are being drawn between this device and the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra which was showcased at CES 2024.

The ThinkCenter Neo Ultra had several processor options. It can be configured with at least six different CPUs, ranging from the entry-level Core i5-14500 to the top-end Core i9-14900T.

However, the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra is not primarily designed for graphics-intensive tasks, as its highest available GPU option is the RTX 4060 with 8GB of VRAM.

With the Yoga Portal, it’s now Apple’s turn to make sure it stays ahead. The M4 Mac Studio is not expected to debut until the middle of next year, with Apple having skipped the M3 model. The current versions feature the M2 Max and M2 Ultra processors.

For now, the Yoga Portal is available only in China at a price of 17,999 Yuan (A$3,690). There isn’t any confirmation yet if this will be available globally, including in Australia.
