The new 3D plasma is the first TV launched in Australia to be the first recipient of a 3D THX Certification. This was achieved after 400 independent laboratory tests spanning colour accuracy, viewing angles, and calibration.

A key element of this TV is built around a simple push button that allows you to switch between 2D and 3D. The 2.1-thick TV also has LG’s TruBlack Filer as well as LG’s NetCast technology which delivers IPTV content such as BigPond Movies, YouTube Videos and Picasa.

LG has also announced a new recorder and Blu-ray player that can play 3D movies and record shows with a touch of a button. It can receive cable, satellite and free-to-air shows without the need for extra hardware and has a time shift function that allow users to pause live TV shows.

The device can also record programs and playback a Blu-ray movie simultaneously, ensuring favourite shows are never missed.  Both 3D and 2D content can be stored on the standard 250GB Hard Disk of the HR558D model or to 500GB on the HR559D model.

Pricing has not been announced at this time.
