Google Races Round The World In 80 Days
The Zero Race – sponsored by Google and the UN Environment Program – started in Geneva and will track through Berlin and Shanghai, then crossing the Pacific before resuming in Vancouver and Los Angeles.
The finish is planned for Cancun, Mexico, hopefully in time for the UN Climate Conference in November.
The cars are required to carry two passengers and drive at least 250km each day at an average speed of at least 80 km/h
Vehicles taking part include a two-seat electric scooter – pictured – whose maker, Switzerland’s Oerlikon, says it can accelerate faster than a Porsche SE 911.
